Deborah L. Scott has spent her career building the visual logic of enormous films — the Edwardian strata of Titanic, the bio-engineered future of Avatar, the neon Americana of Back to the Future.

Her Oscar for Titanic recognized a wardrobe that carried the film's whole class argument on its shoulders: who is laced in, who can run. That instinct — costume as story mechanics rather than decoration — is why designers still study her work.

Scott received the Golden Key for Costume Design as part of the festival's Costume Design Focus, the program that puts craft artists on stage in conversation with audiences and critics.
