Dream Scenario

Evolutionary biologist Paul Matthews (the one and only Nicolas Cage, in a role precisely suited to his wondrously peculiar skills as an actor) is in for a weird ride. And so are we, in “Dream Scenario,” a bizarre and surreal satire of contemporary life and social media in which an ordinary dude becomes a global phenomenon once he begins appearing in the random dreams of all kinds of people. Cage gives yet another of his memorably out-there performances (both in and out of peoples’ subconsciousness) in a new dark comedy from Norwegian writer-director Kristoffer Borgli (“DRIB,” “Sick of Myself”), who once again explores the perilous allure of celebrity, media and human perversity.
