Synopsis
Few filmmakers capture the atmosphere and articulate the sensibility of living in the American South with as much emotional truth as North Carolina’s Angus MacLachlan. In his latest film, the writer of JUNEBUG also directs here, giving us a portrait of a good man amid family crises, as David Strathairn‘s suburban patriarch copes with the life troubles of adult children. As Bill, a long and happily married Vietnam veteran, he struggles with the limits of fatherly authority when he discovers his son is having an affair, and his daughter returns home with her own young daughter, seeking refuge from her drug-dealer husband.
