Synopsis
This true-life sports drama, from the production company run by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, is the story of Anthony Robles, based on his own account of how, born with one leg and raised in a broken home, he became a world-beating college wrestler. The Rocky influence is explicit in this no-frills production, which is the directorial debut of Oscar-winning film editor William Goldenberg (Argo, Zero Dark Thirty). Jharrel Jerome (Moonlight, and an Emmy winner for When They See Us) stars as Robles. He gives “a tirelessly physical performance” (The Guardian), sharing the screen with an all-star cast that includes Jennifer Lopez, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña and Don Cheadle.
