THE LAST DIVE

Terry Kennedy, a former Hell’s Angel who became the first man to ride a giant manta ray, hopes to have one last reunion with the creature he named Willy, a loyal diving companion for two decades after they first met in Mexico’s Sea of Cortez. The giant ray, at 22 feet, could easily accommodate Kennedy on its back as they took dives together. Now 83, Kennedy goes in search of his ocean-dwelling friend – who has disappeared – joined by a team of divers. This documentary from Cody Sheehy makes use of Kennedy’s own archival footage as well as breathtaking new undersea vistas to bring this unusual friendship to life.
