Synopsis
As the oldest segregated public housing project in the South, in the heart of Liberty City, Liberty Square has suffered from civic neglect for ages. But when luxury Miami real estate is threatened by rising sea levels, Liberty City suddenly looks very appealing—as it sits atop the highest ground in the city.
This character-driven, verité documentary tells the story of one community’s fight for survival against bulldozers and the well-funded forces of climate gentrification. The film interrogates assumptions of who matters—and who doesn’t—and about land and who controls it.
