Synopsis
Music is everything in Cuba, essential to the very nature of the island nation, where traditions old and new have flourished despite a conspicuous lack of resources.
Award-winning filmmakers Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman (“Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice,” “The Celluloid Closet”) celebrate the efforts of the nonprofit Horns to Havana as the US-based group teaches young Cubans how to maintain their instruments. To show the process, they follow a string bass from a Manhattan workshop into the hands of a 16-year-old student musician in Havana.
