Synopsis
Pushing 90 years on (or 125 if you count the original Frank L.Baum story), “The Wizard of Oz” never gets old. It’s even been revived (in an altered version) as a showstopping Las Vegas attraction at The Sphere. Jeffrey McHale’s encyclopedic documentary tries to explain why, corraling a host of artists, entertainers and icons (from Rufus Wainwright to John Waters to Margaret Cho) to share their love for the 1939 classic, which has inspired endless remakes and variations over the decades. Not to mention the music, and sparking the cult of its young star Judy Garland. Truly, an all-American phenomenon.
