Synopsis
Each year the state beckons intrepid adventurers from far and wide to compete in the Florida Python Challenge, a 10-day (and typically all-night) slog through The Everglades to kill the most invasive Burmese pythons and claim a $10,000 prize. In Xander Robin’s rapturous, weird and otherwordly documentary, a colorful assortment of eccentrics, dreamers, poets and wandering souls takes the plunge, fulfilling a kind of ultimate Florida Man (or Lady) fantasy. While it might settle for being a satisfying gonzo excursion, the film also poses hard questions about ecological matters and whether the stunt achieves anything at all.
