Synopsis
A selection of Critic’s Week at this year’s Tribeca Festival, Mars One is a Brazilian family drama that explores the differing dreams and tangents of each member (mother, father, son, daughter) as they navigate crisis and figure things out in a darkening social climate. “Despite a prologue situating it in the immediate aftermath of the 2018 election that saw far-right candidate Jair Bolsonaro assume Brazil’s presidency,” Variety wrote, “Mars One is far less politically explosive than gently, humanely implosive.”
