Flow

This boldly visionary animated film from Latvia puts the “cat” back in cataclysm, as an intrepid gray feline confronts a depopulated planet that has been wiped out by a massive flood. The 3D feature, directed by Gints Zilbalodis, nods to the influence of the great Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki in its visual splendor, as its furry hero navigates its way through a dangerous new world. Cat has some company: a capybara, a labrador, a secretary bird and a lemur, each with their own quirks.

Flow is Latvia’s submission to the 2025 Academy Awards for Best International Feature.
