The Hand of God
Italian director Paolo Sorrentino, who won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film with "The Great Beauty," revisits an unspeakable childhood trauma in his new film, which fictionalizes events around the death of his parents when he was only 16. He turns the tragedy into the platform for a coming-of-age story, set in the riotous Naples of the late 1980s, and the most personal film yet from a filmmaker more often given to epic theatricality.
