Good Night Oppy

Special pre-recorded intro from Anson Mount (Captain Pike on Star Trek: Discovery).
The most sentimental movie ever made about an inter-planetary exploratory rover, Good Night Oppy is the surprisingly moving story of the Opportunity Rover – Oppy for short – launched in 2003, and originally intended only to function long enough for a 90-day mission on Mars. Instead, the remarkable machine ran for 15 years, dramatically expanding its travels across the red planet’s rugged terrain. Documentarian Ryan White (Coded, KWFF 2021) makes extensive use of archival footage but also explores the deeply human side of Oppy’s mission: the scientists and engineers who kept it going.
