Comedy, action, drama, documentary… this year’s Florida Shorts has it all. The best in storytelling all across the state are here, from Miami to Orlando to hometown Key West filmmakers.

Take a journey into the Ernest Hemingway Look-Alike Contest, one of the largest competitions of its kind in the world, hosted in… Key West, of course.

Directed by Jacksonville filmmakers Justin Jay Jones and Stephen Bradford.  3 minutes.

A short film highlighting the historically Black business district in Downtown Jacksonville, known as Laville.

Directed by Miami filmmaker Mariana Serrano. 19 minutes.

A dysfunctional, Cuban-American family play their chances for the grand prize Powerball in hopes to better their lives, but they soon learn the real prize lies within them.

ABOVE GROUND

Directed by Miami filmmaker Kevin Sharpley. 10 minutes.

Based on a true story, this animated piece deals with issues that so many struggle with daily, mental health, the cycle of abuse and the opioid crisis that has affected a multitude.

This music video captures the ever-spinning circle of continued racial injustice amidst a glimmer of hope.

Nine-year-old Nash is determined to find the monster that killed his mother; his father George is equally determined to stop him.

Directed by Miami filmmaker Gabriela Lima. 10 minutes.

This short film explores the relationship between a father and a daughter after the tragic passing of the mother.

SPECIAL WORK-IN-PROGRESS SCREENING

This year’s Florida Shorts Program will close with a special advance work-in-progress screening of a thoroughly entertaining and heartwarming short, filmed right here in Key West.
