In this week's edition of Flashback Friday, we recognize the proud and strong history of Key West and the Armed Services on this very special Memorial Day weekend. We salute our servicemen and women - past, present and future. We also recognize the sacrifices by the new front-line workers in the fight against COVID, those who have given their lives to fight this silent enemy.

Key West's own Mark Ebonboch was instrumental in the making of this week's film - and helping to bring it to KWFF. We had a great time with Mark, Director Paul Sanchez, Producers Lisa Poggi and Don Anderson, Tom Berenger and his wife, Cory Glover, and the rest of the crew!

KWFF COSTUME DESIGN FOCUS AND ACADEMY AWARD WINNER

KWFF has honored an outstanding costume designer each year since 2016 and each of them has gone on to be nominated for an Academy Award for Costume Design.

This week's FBF brings us back to 2017, when we had the privilege of hosting and honoring Mark Bridges, who won an Academy Award that year for his stellar work in The Phantom Thread.

Mark has been the costume designer for all of Paul Thomas Anderson's films including Boogie Nights, There Will be Blood, Magnolia, Inherent Vice, and of course The Phantom Thread.

The KWFF Critics Panel is the only festival program of its nature in the entire country. Each year the panel brings together a dozen of the top national critics to discuss films, debate trends in the industry, and sing karaoke at Bobby's Monkey Bar.

Since 2016, these critics have chosen one film each year to be given the prestigious KWFF Critics Award.

This year we've asked Eric Kohn, executive editor and chief critic at Indiewire.com, to reflect on past KWFF Critics Award winners.
